Polaris RANGERs at "Ground Zero" in New York

At the request of government agencies, we sent 10 Polaris RANGER Utility vehicles to the New York City area to assist in disaster recovery efforts following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

The Environmental protection Agency (EPA) used six of them at, and around, “Ground Zero” in lower Manahattan to transport generators and other heavy equipment for environmental clean-up and decontamination of people and materials at the disaster site. The RANGER units were also used to haul air quality monitoring equipment to take samples of buildings to ensure safety.

The NY City Fire Department also requested Polaris RANGER to help transport tools and personnel to and from disaster areas.
