Polaris RANGER 4x4 - The Hardest Working, Smoothest Riding Utility Vehicle - Ever. |
|
The new, redesigned 2005 Polaris RANGER® 4x4 is the hardest working, smoothest riding utility vehicle ever. With a new, exclusive Lock & RideTM cargo system, class leading payload, cargo and towing capacities, a 66 kmph top speed and true on-demand all-wheel drive, RANGER 4x4 raises the "hardest working" bar even higher. A new, legendary smooth Polaris independent rear suspension, new industry-leading suspension travel, exclusive seating for three, and high 27.9 cm ground clearance make RANGER 4x4 the smoothest riding utility vehicle ever.
New for 2005 is the exclusive Lock & RideTM cargo system that carries equipment, gear and loose material better than anyone in the business. This cargo system combines a redesigned, multi-functional cargo box and a full range of PURE Polaris accessories that attach in less than 10 seconds, allowing you to work faster and carry gear more easily. The new, redesigned composite cargo box has a 455 kg capacity, is big enough to hold a standard pallet, has drain holes for wet material and comes standard with a pickup truck style tailgate and self-cleaning hinge for easy dumping of loose materials. With multiple D-rings inside, tie down points outside, and 1 ¼ inch thru-hole mounting points around the entire box, there are hundreds of ways to secure and carry gear and cargo.
Also new for 2005 is a new, legendary smooth Polaris independent rear suspension (IRS). With Polaris IRS, no other utility vehicle is comparable to the off-road comfort or abilities of the RANGER 4x4. Dual coil-over shock independent rear suspension provides an industry leading 22.9 cm of suspension travel, allowing RANGER to absorb the deep ruts of farm fields, the hidden rocks in pastures and coarse, rocky and washed out terrain. Up front, an improved MacPherson strut, long-travel (20.3 cm) independent front suspension matches to the tasks of virtually any landscape. Combined, the new suspension system keeps the vehicle well above ground with over 27.9 cm of ground clearance. According to Marc Tullemans, Product Manager, "the smooth ride characteristics of the independent front and rear suspensions are maintained even when carrying heavy loads up to 682 kgs of total payload, so it is easy to see why RANGER 4x4 is the smoothest riding utility vehicle ever."
At the heart of the Polaris RANGER 4x4 is the 30 horsepower, 4-valve, 4-stroke liquid-cooled Polaris 500 engine. This impressive power plant delivers class leading towing, hauling, payload and top speed through an automatic Polaris Variable Transmission (PVT). The PVT requires no shifting and responds to both engine RPM and vehicle torque requirements for superior power transfer in all riding conditions. Over 1 million PVTs have been built, and the RANGER 4x4 comes standard with an exclusive lifetime limited warranty on the drive belt.
The RANGER 4x4 features Polaris On-Demand All-wheel drive. Unlike competitive 3 ½ wheel drive limited slip systems, both front wheels fully engage when loose terrain is detected, making RANGER 4x4 the most capable vehicle for heavy-duty off-road use. The user-friendly dash mounted switch activates the system that automatically senses rear wheel traction loss and transfers full torque to both front wheels. The RANGER 4x4 also has a new, electronically activated lockable rear differential. At the push of a button, the system can be engaged for rough terrain or disengaged for turf-friendly use.
